About the project

Amesbury Eats is a 3 year initiative launched by the Amesbury Public Library in 2018 in celebration of the city's 350th anniversary. Amesbury Eats explores the food and drink culture of the city from its incorporation to the present.

This website serves as the online digital library resource for Amesbury Eats. The objects you see here are either from the Amesbury Public Library local history collection or are material submitted by the public. We are attempting to document the restaurant landscape in 2018 by collecting menus, photographs of restaurant facades and interiors, and images of prepared dishes throughout the year. We hope this will serve as a resource to researchers in years to come. We will also include historic material related to food and drink in Amesbury.

If you are interested in donating material please see our guidelines. We welcome analog and digital content.

Year one will focus on restaurants and eateries, year two on food sources such as farms, groceries, and suppliers, and year three on other food cultures and environments such as school lunches, community potlucks, food pantries and more.
